Quelqu’un peut-il expliquer le sens de cette phrase attribuée à Voltaire :
« Le courage n’est pas une vertu, mais une qualité commune aux scélérats et aux grands hommes. »
Il me semble que lorsque les libertins parlent de "vertu", c’est avec malice pour faire de la vertu une aptitude à piétiner joyeusement la morale naturelle.
Voltaire s’appliquerait plutôt ici à railler le courage (qui lui fait certainement défaut) comme un élan qui anime les sots.
